Scary Go Round

It's not often I post images, etc on here, but Scary Go Round, and its current successor Bad Machinery has the ability to make me giggle, and I feel it's under-read. It's a gentle, surreal kind of humour. Sometime's theres schoolchildren. Sometimes there's extra-planar demons. Go read it!

My Existence and Other Forms of Plant-Life

I think I've rediscovered the joy of the LJ cut! Hurrah!

Oh and as promised, here's some oxygen for you all *puff*

I'm a filthy little evergreen and no mistake.

So, at the moment, how am I doing? Well, mostly up, some down, sometimes a leetle slantwards but I'm going to get better insoles to deal with that.

Honestly, I think I'm doing fine. Maybe about 8 out of 10, which is quite impressive at any time for me.

I've rediscovered the joys of going out on the random as it were. Also my 'evil dimples'. I'd sort of forgotten about them. They're awesome.

I've also come to the conclusion that booze has no calories in. I don't care what scientists say. I know that if I go out, I wake up the next day with a flatter stomach. It's true I tell you!

Today, I shall feel like.... a bunny!

Meme Responses (4) - A Rant (short one)

Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls

What the fuck is the deal with how hard so many places seem to find it to make their chicken balls properly. Too greasy, too hard, burned, crisped, tasteless. IT'S FUCKING CHICKEN IN BATTER!! IT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE! You know what, fuck it, I'll have the chow mein... BUT IT'S ALL DRY! WHY IS IT SO DRY? Take the grease from the chicken balls, add it to the chow mein, and voila! Eatable meals! But no. No. I should make my food myself, but I'm too lazy. SO MAKE MY CHICKEN BALLS PROPERLY!!!

Meme Responses (3) - Women

Women.

Fucking terrified of them.

No, seriously.

I had a lot of male friends during my teenage years. Infact, nearly, if not all of my "true" friends were male. And then I got landed on an all girls floor and I was fucking SCARED.

Here are things I have learned about women:

- Women CAN BE like men, but with boobs and no penis. This was a good discovery.

- Women are (in general) harder to manipulate than men, or it at least requires a differing form of manipulation. They are also harder to read in general than men, particularly when it comes to sex.

- Women (I suspect) have an intricate code of hand signals, gestures, glances etc. that I have only a beginners level in.

- Women's bodies are completely different from men's and from each other. They do tend to have smooshy bits though.

- Whilst men tend to be able to get away with having sex with loads of women more easily, women tend to be able to get away with flirting more easily.

- Lesbinimming isn't a turn on for all men, but it's a damn fun way to spend an evening (and you should never lesbinim up for man's benefit anyway, unless you're planning a threesome.)

- Women tend to have better lip-balm than men.

- Frequently, on nights out, you will find a woman crying in the loos. Other women will confort her, whilst women she's never met will offer advice, hugs and consoling platitudes (he's not worth it; I can't believe she'd do that; oh, poor you etc.) I am reliably informed this does not happen in the gents.

I like women. I just wish I could read them better.

Meme Responses (2) - Roleplay

My most memorable roleplay experience is actually rather private, so I won't go into what exactly was said, and stuff, but I will tell you how it made me feel.

My most memorable roleplay experience is when Genevre told Bob that she loved him for the first time. Weasel and I were outside the courtroom, sitting on some stairs, and it was at the same time as Genevre explained that she was married.

I think this was one of the first times I truly lost myself in a character. There was pain, a lot of pain, and it wasn't mine, but I could feel it. And there was confusion and fear, and doubt but also hope. It was sweet, and hurty, and sort of amazing at the same time.

I'm very ... aware of my own brain, and I find it difficult to shut it all down, but somehow, it happened of its own accord.

Kudos to Weezee for helping to make that.

Meme Responses (1) - Politics

Ah politics.

Politics is something which I actually find very difficult to talk about. At some point, I must have been told that discussing politics in mixed company is Rude, and it stuck. All I know is, that if I'm not very very comfortable around you, I won't talk about it. The irony that I've been asked to post about politics by one of the few people I feel comfortable talking about it around amuses me greatly.

Having said that, here goes.

I'm left wing. I come from a long LONG line of left wing people, both my parents are lefties and proud of it. In fact, the only thing that my mother has ever said she would throw any boyfriend of me and my sister's out of the house for is being a Tory. She doesn't mean it, but I think if I joined the Young Conservatives, I would be disowned.

Having said that, I'm also politically ignorant. I'm damn stupid, to the point where I had to ban myself from listening to anything about the Israel/Lebanon conflict a few years back because I would just SHOUT at the radio and TV, when the truth was I didn't really understand what was going on.

I believe in justice, but with mercy. I believe in freedom, the right to make a mistake, be punished for it, and then live a life. I believe in free health care, in sharing, in the right of everyone to public services, in the right of everyone to ask for aid when they need it, and that it's the duty of society to give it them. I pay my taxes, and to be honest, I don't care that part of my money goes to help people who may need it, and even some that might not need it so much (if people want to cheat, that's their own problem). I'd give more, especially if they used some of it to provide cheap public transport, especially to the people who live in the sticks (I've been there, it's not fun)

Having said that, other than vote I do fuck all about it. I whine occasionally, and make bitchy comments with my mum about David Cameron, and the such like. That's about the extent of it.

It's something that I do occasionally feel bad that I do little about. If I want a better world, I really should go out and DO something, rather than just leaving it to people who aren't... well, me.

Oh, and just to clarify, technically I'm a member of the SWP, but that's mainly because they guilt tripped me in Cafe Nero (although what they were doing in Cafe Nero I don't know)

This Weekend

For those of you rather confused about this weekend, and what may or may not be happening, here's the drill:

7:30 - Meeting in Revolution for shots and coctail-ey goodness.

8:30 - Fuzzy space. Either Spoons for food, staying in Revs if we can get reasonably priced food there, possinly followed by a wander through town, stopping at bars on the way. If we feel like it.

10 - 10:30 ish - Rocket to the Lune @ The Phoenix Club

1 ish - Those who are feeling hardcore may make a night of it. All others may sleep/pass out.

Please don't feel you have to come to everything/eat out/drink booze/dress fancy if you don't want to. I will be taking my phone with me, in case people get lost. Just remember to dial the right number!

It would be great to see everyone, if just for a little time. :) LOVE!!

Seeing as I have been moping a lot recently, I've decided to list
Random Things That Make Me Happy!

- Dreams about lightning
- Lime Doritos and humous
- Ylang Ylang
- Leather gloves
- The colour silver
- Catching a leaf (you get a wish!)
- Dice with sparkles or made from metal
- When the wind billows out my leather coat
- Actual lightning
- UV lighting
- The feeling of velvet
- The feeling of suede
- When you buy some new clothes and you want to wear them RIGHT AWAY!
- Beans on toast with lots of butter
- Open fires
- Snow on my eyelashes
- Putting on mascara
- Lying a great big wolfpile with lots of people, but in a comfy, not squashy kind of way
- Sweet orange with cinnamon
- Day dreams about fantastical things
- Hot lemon with honey
- Sleeping on fur
- Two guinea pigs fighting over a stick
- Tropical fish that I don't have to look after
- Fluffy knee length socks without nasty elastic
- Vanilla with patchouli
- Making nice smelling things
- Fresh baked cookies with M&Ms or Smarties in (so they are still warm and gooey)
- Glitter
- And more. There's always more. Unless it's the end of the world. In which case, no cookies for you!

No, these are not reasonable things. They are random things.

Stuff In General

So, the Moot was fun, not the best event I've been to by a long shot, but I still enjoyed myself. Lots of shit went down, which I hope is going to make the G fun. I'd go for the week early, but I can't afford the booze and extra car hire it's cost, plus it's some serious time off work. Got to chat to some friends, monster some, meet some spangly new people, and even terrorize a few Bears (threatening to go into labour does that).

Might see if I can work on some new, smaller, less restricty kit for the G, as I did overheat a little. I think I would have exploded if I'd decided that Kal was going to 'show' her preganancy and had worn a suit.

Work is going ok, it pays my wages, and takes up some of my time. It's nice to actually get some time to talk to people properly again over MSN and the suchlike in the evenings.

My body's taken a bit of a hit recently, despite the extra larp exercise, as I've been binge eating again and not getting proper sleep, so it's probably back on the diet at some point next week, and I might treat myself to something good for it from Lush. Mmmmm, Lush

Other than that, it's pretty much all ticking along ok.

Char. xx

So I looked in the mirror and realised that I am seriously unhealthy and it's starting to show. I'm switching off my all carbs and lots of saturated fat kick I'm on at the moment, and onto lots of veggies and fish and stuuuuuuff. Also less booze.

The problem is, what to do for exercise? Can't swim, won't jog, too skint for the gym, and my main source of exercise has gone home for the summer.

I think I shall walk into town, peer at fancy cheese graters, and see if I can find a dvd organiser thingy.

Bit weird as a form of exercise, I know.

So I'm looking out of the window (it's not my window, it's mike's) and lamenting the loss of my mp3 player(even though it was a pile of shite), and unsure how to deal with voice mail, and wondering who's left me a voice mail anyway, and my feet hurt a little bit, and trying to figure out how to sort out the corset (senerity, I've no idea what I've done to it, but the boning is poking out and cutting me to shreds when I try it on, it's come through the cover-ey bit, and the glue's come unstuck) and making vague plans for the GEF, and looking at boyfriend (who's gone back to bed) and I'm wondering:

If you were God, what colours would you make things??
